Dawn Bower was born and raised in Omaha, NE. She has been known for entertaining child and adult audiences since she was able to speak, whether it was performing a musical number on her flute or performing short (made-up) musicals. In Girl Scouts from 1st-8th grade, she distracted the troop with her wild sense of humor.
In eighth grade, Dawn was written up in the newspaper for winning 2nd Place in the Omaha Metropolitan Science Fair for her hovercraft experiment. She graduated 3rd in her class at Omaha North High School: A Science, Math, and Technology Magnet School and, in addition to participating in multiple school clubs and activities- including theater, was a member of the National Honor’s Society.
Dawn attended Creighton University, holding the Dean’s List all four years and graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education. While at Creighton, she became involved in community service and sought out ways to continue helping others.
Dawn discovered AmeriCorps*NCCC, applied and was accepted to the Denver, CO Campus. She served two 10 month long terms, working in teams on service projects throughout the country. She worked with such organizations as 4H, YMCA, Boys and Girls Club of America, Habitat for Humanity, Denver Rescue Mission, RE-MEMBER, FEMA, and American Red Cross.
She took up Lindy Hop Swing and was a competitive dance team for two years, leading the team to a 2nd place win nationally. She has mild-moderate training in many dance forms including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, many forms of swing, ballroom, waltz, fox trot, rumba, salsa, tango, hip-hop, and improvisational.
Dawn used to teach at Denver Academy, a school for kids who do best with individualized learning programs. She was there for 10 years, working with kids in elementary through high school, who have Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD or other learning challenges. She has also been tutoring privately for 10 years, which she loves.
For the past 7 years, Dawn has studied with the best acting coaches in Denver, including Denver Center for Performing Arts, DS StudioWorks, and Benjy Dobrin Studios. She has learned on-camera skills, scene study skills, cold-copy reading, and commercial and audition skills. She played the lead in multiple staged and filmed projects. She also graduated class 33 from the Bovine Metropolis School of Improvisation, where she stayed to perform improv and write and perform sketch comedy. She signed with Big Fish Talent Agency in Denver in 2009, and is with them today.
In 2012, Dawn knew that she needed to be in Los Angeles to fully realize her goal of having her own Sit-Com. So she made the move to Hollywood, where she feels right at home. Her training has expanded to include the following LA coaches: Mitch Clem, Mark Sikes, Richard Lawson, Mike Pointer, Gunnar Rohrbacher, Dorian Frankel, Paulo Pagliacolo, Jen Krater, Mark McPherson (Studio 24/7), and the Groundlings.
